What's the difference between MPVI2 tuning and bench flash for the EcoDiesel?

MPVI2 tuning uses a handheld tuner that reads and writes to your truck's ECU via the OBD-II port—no computer needed and you stay in full control. Bench flash requires mailing your ECU to us for reprogramming, then we mail it back. MPVI2 is faster and more convenient; bench flash is sometimes cheaper if you're doing multiple tunes. Both deliver the same power and fuel economy gains on your 3.0L.

Can I delete just the DPF and skip the EGR?

Absolutely. Many guys start with a DPF delete pipe, then add EGR delete later. Removing the DPF alone gets you back roughly 50-75 hp and better fuel economy. The EGR delete adds another 20-30 hp and smoother throttle response. You can do them independently—just remember that a quality tune ties everything together for best results.

What's the difference between the 2014-2019 and 2020-2021 EcoDiesel tuning?

Dodge changed the ECU and emissions calibration in 2020. The 2014-2019 tuners come with 4 tuning credits; the 2020-2021 MPVI2 units ship with 6 credits. The hardware is the same, but the software files are year-specific. Make sure you order the correct tuner for your model year.

Do I need a tune if I install a DPF delete pipe and EGR delete?

Technically your truck will run, but you'll leave power on the table and may trigger check engine lights. A quality tune optimizes your fuel curve, removes all emissions codes, and maxes out the power your deleted setup can produce. It's the final piece that makes everything work together. Is the Iron Loader tuner different from the MPVI2?

The Iron Loader is an older MPVI-generation tuner that works on 2014-2017 EcoDiesels. The MPVI2 is the newer platform that handles 2014-2021 trucks. If your Ram is 2017 or older, the Iron Loader will work; if you're 2018+, go MPVI2. Both deliver strong results, but MPVI2 is our standard recommendation for its flexibility and ease of use.
